Life in Brunei - Friend + Golden sunset

brunei 24

On 26 May evening, my dad, Tom and myself went to a deserted area of Seria beach. I quickly setup my gear and started playing with light. It was fun and challenging as you can see from the photos, background light was changing from time to time. Lucky, I got myself a good model, Tom and excellent assistant, my dad; eventhough they were 1st timer... hahaha... most importantly, we all had fun.

Life in Brunei - Friend's gathering

brunei 17

Friendship
Make new friends
But keep the old
One is sliver and the other gold !

It has been a long time whent I last met this group of friends, though there were a lot more friends that I missed to meet up during this trip, as most of them have their own families and works to take care :)

We had a small gathering at SH coffee shop, chit chat-gossip-lot of things to catch up, hahahah. At around 6.15pm we set off to OGDC to see if we can catch sunset at the beach. Yeah, we got a beautiful sunset.

Life in Brunei - Relax + some excitement

brunei 01

Brunei is a country located on the north coast of the island of Borneo, in Southeast Asia. The total population of Brunei Darussalam is about 400,000 of which around 130,000(satistic taken from wikipedia) live in the capital Bandar Seri Begawan. Other major towns are the port town of Muara, the oil producing town of Seria and its neighboring town, Kuala Belait.

I was staying in Seria, during my 2 weeks stay. Seria is the heart of the oil industry in Brunei, and also the site of the first commercial onshore oilfield discovered in Brunei. The town sits atop the Seria Field, which was discovered in 1929. There are numerous 'nodding donkeys' in and around the town and this has become the unofficial symbol of the town.

On 14 May afternoon, we went for a walk at Sungai Liang Forest Reserve. Following easy nature trek in the forest reserve to see the various plants of the tropical rain forest. During the trek, we saw the sky was getting darker and we decided to end the forest adventure earlier as not to be caught in the rain.

On the way back to Seria, I suggested to visit Lumut Beach. What a Surprise!!! We saw 2 water tornado while we reached the beach. The 'tornado' only appeared for less than 10 minutes. I was able to grab a few shots of the rare scene...

Life in MY - Kuala Selangor

kuala selangor 01

Kuala Selangor is a quiet town at the river mouth of the Selangor river. The city center is near the new bridge. Near the mosque there are also a lot of shops, but the old shops are favourite. Specially to the Malaysians, who come here every weekend from Kuala Lumpur to see the picturesque lighthouse, Silverleaf Monkeys and the fireflies.

We saw a large group of Silverleaf Monkeys at the lighthouse on "Bukit Melawati". This hill is also near the old center of Kuala Selangor, near the new bridge. In the weekend you can take a train ride to the lighthouse.

I spend this memorable 3 days and 3 nights stay in Kuala Selangor with lots of adventure stories. The story even started from Malaysia custom... like 'male' id, road gangster... ... 'black out' in the last night of our stay... ... hahaha for those who was in the picture will know what had happened. Also I had the opportunities to document the big day of Sheryl & Zhang Wei, stay tune.

Life in SG - Friends in Pulau Ubin

w_s 02

Look! Going to rain soon, Wee Ming & Sharon still 'pak tuo' outside, hahahaha. Quickly grabbed my camera, limping (remembered my knee was injured) out to record down this special moment. Captured few shots before we realised the stormy rain was already surrounding us.

In the shelter, I met Manrico's family from Italy. Manrico's little son was so cute, managed to take some photos of him, cheers.

Life in SG - Cycling in Pulau Ubin

ubin cycle 03

A cloudy saturday morning, a group of us took a bumboats from Changi Ferry Terminal. This 10 minutes ride brought us to an island shaped like a boomerang, Pulau Ubin which is situated just off the northeastern corner of mainland Singapore.

I rented a $5, for a day, bicycle and started my journey to Chek Java. It is located off the eastern coast of the island, Chek Java is a unique nature area. I was so excited and when I was happily cycling uphill, the bicycle gear suddenly jammed, caused me to step forward and hurt my knee. It was so painfull!!!! I decided to u-turned back down to rest my knee.

Well, since I can't cycle, can't walk well (I can still feel the pain while writing this :[ ), I found another alternative to spent my time, which was doing panning shot instead.

Life in Bintan - Eat, sleep, shoot & plenty of fun [II]

'我等着你回来'

Let's continue on our beautiful Bintan trip. After sharing some of the nice sceneries in part I, I like to introduce some beautiful people.

Jamie has promised before this trip to be our model for the photoshoot; she did very well and gave all types of funny pose as well . Hahaha!

'看着遥远的天边'

'期待他的出现'

'继续的等'

'不能空手而归,摘棵云回去做纪念. 哈哈哈'

Well, Jamie went back to Singapore after 2 days of stay. So I had to shoot without a model mainly taking scenery shot on the 3rd day. I was lucky to find a beautiful couple, Sean & Kaisa, who were walking along the golden seashore.

They looked so natural and relaxed while I took this photo.

Well, the island is so small that I met Sean & Kaisa again the next morning. Here I took a quick shot for both of them before they walked to the pool. Hope they like these photos too.

Life in Bintan - Eat, sleep, shoot & plenty of fun [I]

Bintan is the largest of 3,200 islands in the Riau Archipelago, Located 45 km southest of Singapore and a mere 45 minutes ride away by high-speed catamaran. The island boasts of 18 kms of pristine white beaches with rich marine life. Together with a few friends, we spent 3 days 3 nights on this beautiful island.

Morning sun at Bintan beach; couldn't captured the moment when the sun rose as it appeared on the other side of the beach.

Woot, look at the pose!

Simply love the rock, sea and sky.

Found this little propeller standing alone in the middle of a deserted beach

Place to relax and hide away from the afternoon sun

恶魔果实 from 'One Piece', hahaha

Well, that's one way to include myself in the photo :)

Waiting for the sunset.

Well, this is the moment...
Stay tuned for more potrait photos. Cheers!
